Tortured Soul is a Brooklyn, New York-based live house music collective fronted by John-Christian Urich, who handles drums and vocals. Since forming around 2001, the band has blended soulful rhythms, classic disco, and deep house with live instrumentation, setting them apart in the dance music scene.
Influenced by artists like Prince, Heatwave, and Kool & The Gang, Tortured Soul has toured internationally, performing at major festivals and venues worldwide. Their music combines nostalgic soul with modern dance grooves, making them one of the most acclaimed live acts in house music.
Current members include John-Christian Urich, bassist Jordan Scannella, and keyboardist Isamu MacGregor, following early line-up changes and the passing of former member Ethan White.
